Mid-East’s July output grows despite power, market weakness
Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Qatar combined crude steel production rose 2.8% on-year in July to 3.64 million tonnes, according to the latest worldsteel data.
The growth was despite slow steel markets in each of these countries, as well as electricity outages in Iran hampering industrial output, Kallanish notes.
January-July regional output increased by 10% on-year to 25.33mt.
