According to the government of Yangjiang City in Guangdong, a total of 132 key construction projects are planned in 2020. These include three stainless steel projects, two of which are under construction, with one set to begin construction, Kallanish notes.

Yangjiang Hongwang's 500,000 tonnes/year precision stainless steel cold rolled strip project and Yongxian Technology Lianchang Stainless Steel's deep processing industrial park project will continue construction this year. Both projects started construction last year and plan to commission in the second half of 2021.

Hongwang will add 500,000 t/y stainless CRC with thickness of 1.15-3mm, with 300,000 t/y of this pickled 0.25-2mm strip. Yongxian Lianchang expects to complete construction of 14 lines with a combined 180,000 t/y stainless processed flat steel capacity in 2020, and to add another 120,000 t/y of stainless deep processing capacity in 2021.

Meanwhile, Guangdong Century Tsingshan Nickel Industry will start construction of a 50,000 t/y ferronickel project. The factory will upgrade the existing two 60,000 kVA rotary kiln electric furnaces (RKEF) and add two new 36,000 kVA RKEFs. Commissioning is set for December 2021.
