Guangdong to ‘limit’ steel capacity to 40m t/y
China’s southern Guangdong province has released a set of targets to deal with industrial overcapacity and excess housing inventory over the next three years which will limit its steelmaking capacity to 40 million tonnes/year. Considering that its actual reported output was up 3% to 17.62m t/y in 2015, this still leaves significant room for growth, Kallanish notes.
