GPH Ispat trials new EAF
GPH Ispat is carrying out trials of the electric arc furnace at its new plant in Sitakunda, north of Chittagong, that will increase the firm’s crude steelmaking capacity six-fold.
The Bangladeshi steelmaker ordered the 80-tonne ‘Quantum’ electric arc furnace from Primetals in late 2016 (see Kallanish passim). It has an 840,000 tonnes/year capacity that will add to GPH Ispat’s existing induction furnace-based 210,000 t/y crude steel capacity…
