Goa to assess mineral reserves for auction
Government-owned Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Goa government to explore the state’s mineral resources and finalise the mineral blocks to be auctioned. Goa has some 1.46 billion tonnes of iron ore and 34 million tonnes of manganese ore reserves, says India’s mines ministry.
Goa is also an ideal mineral exporter due to its mines being located near ports, the ministry adds.
