Global production drops first time in 13 months
Crude steel production in the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) fell 1.4% on-year in August to 156.81 million tonnes. This represents the first on-year drop since July 2020, Kallanish notes.
Global output also fell 3% on July 2021.
