Global pig iron sentiment continues to deteriorate
The merchant pig iron market remains stagnant amid softening demand and ferrous scrap price falls in the US and Turkey. Expectations of hikes based on rising costs and various mills idling hot ends on costly energy are evaporating fast, as suppliers of pig iron, unable to achieve increases, are also considering further production cuts, Kallanish observes.
