Global pig iron output surges in March
Global pig iron output rebounded in March to the second-highest volume since January 2020, at 114.2 million tonnes, up 8.9% on February and 8% on-year. It was however down 0.64mt on January 2021, which saw the highest monthly output since January 2020.
First-quarter output rose 5.8% on-year to 335.1mt.
China produced 74.8mt of pig iron in March, 8.8% up on-month and 8.9% up on-year, boosting Asia's total March output by 9% on-year to 93mt. Combined …
