Global pig iron output rises despite China cut
Global pig iron output increased in 2021 by 8 million tonnes, while the world's largest producer, China, reduced production by 39mt. It however substantially increased production in December after six months of reductions.
At 1.33 billion tonnes, the world's 2021 pig iron output gained 0.6% on-year, as December output increased by 11% on-month but fell 3.2% on-year to 110.4mt, show worldsteel data monitored by Kallanish.
