Global crude steel output/capacity utilisation rises in April
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) says that global crude steel output from its 67 reporting countries was 142.1 million tonnes in April 2017, up 5.0% year-on-year, Kallanish notes. Capacity utilisation also rose on-year again during the momth.
China produced 72.8mt in the month, an increase of 4.9% on April 2016 and now representing again more than half of the world’s crude steel output at 51.2%.
