Germany subsidises Salzgitter DRI pilot project

German environment minister Svenja Schulze approved on Friday funding for the construction of a direct reduced iron pilot plant to be operated flexibly with hydrogen and natural gas. The plant is another step in Salzgitter’s SALCOS (Salzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking) strategy.
