Germany decreases scrap exports, imports
Germany’s ferrous scrap exports and imports decreased significantly in January-May, according to data from the German federal statistics office.
Shipments from Germany totalled 3.1 million tonnes, down 14% on-year, Kallanish notes. In the first five months of the year scrap imports fell by 30% to 1.4mt.
In 2022, exports totalled 7.7mt, down 14% on-year on 2021, the lowest export volume since the economic and financial crisis of 2009 (see Kallanish passim). …
