German scrap price hikes by one-third in 2017
The average selling price for scrap in Germany rose between 32% and 35% for the main scrap grades in 2017, according to industry federation BVSE.
Old scrap grade 1 and new scrap grade 2 both saw an increase of 34.9% on average, factoring in the ups and downs in the course of the year. Grade 1 began the year at a medium price of €205/tonne ($239/t) and ended it at €250/t. Grade 2 rose from around €220/t to €270/t. Shredded …
