German scrap trade balance remains stable in 2020
Germany imported 3.93 million tonnes of ferrous scrap and exported 8.23mt last year, Kallanish hears from recycling federation BVSE. The foreign trade balance remained almost flat at 4.3mt compared with 2019, BVSE notes.
Imports fell 5.6% year-on-year, although shipments from non-EU countries increased by almost 20%. The Czech Republic remained the most important European scrap supplier with a share of 22% at 847,000 tonnes, down 5.5% on the previous year.
