Gerdau halts a blast furnace in Ouro Branco
Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau has extended its production cuts in Brazil, Kallanish learns from the company. This move follows weaker demand from the industrial and construction sectors as a result of the spread of Covid-19 in the country, the steelmaker says.
“We are halting various electric melt shops and long steel rolling mills for the rest of April. During this month, we are closing the blast furnace number 2 in Ouro Branco in Minas Gerais,” Gerdau …
