GCC shipments to US continue slump, Turkey's soar
Gulf Cooperation Council steel shipments to the US have continued to decline steeply this year, while Turkish long products supply has seen a big revival, Kallanish learns from US Department of Commerce data.
United Arab Emirates-origin imports into the US fell -8% on-year in January-July to 132,791 tonnes. This was despite a 14% rise in pipe shipments to 60,969t. Flat products intake fell -26% to 47,836t and longs deliveries dropped -10% to 22,667t.
