GCC rebar exporters eye permanent Far East presence
Gulf Cooperation Council rebar producers are being vigorous in expanding their rebar sales in export markets and aim to make exports consistent, particularly to Hong Kong and Singapore, Kallanish notes.
A fresh, March-shipment rebar deal is heard to have been concluded by a GCC mill at $708/tonne fob GCC actual weight for 30,000 tonnes to Hong Kong. Sea freight is currently at around $35/t; however, it is expected to rise by March.
