GCC buyers cautiously monitor HRC price hikes
Hot rolled coil buyers, tube makers and re-rollers in the Gulf Cooperation Council have been left stunned by ex-China price offer hikes of $15-20/tonne since last week.
Buyers are cautiously monitoring the markets and believe domestic Chinese and global demand does not support the Chinese hikes. Moreover, the cyclone in China may pull down local consumption. Consequently, in one or two weeks, Chinese HRC prices may trend down $10-15/t, Kallansh notes.
