GCC billet producers receive strong demand from abroad
Gulf Cooperation Council billet producers are receiving inquiries from export markets and there is only a small tonnage available for the domestic market.
European and Egyptian buyers are thus elevating billet prices in the GCC. In the domestic market, rebar producers are finding it difficult to secure reasonably-priced billet that would give them a margin on rebar sales, with billet prices higher than their rebar sales prices, Kallanish understands.
