Fujian’s new port berth boosts iron ore transport
The No.9 wharf at Luoyu in Dongwu Port received on 26 May its first 400,000 deadweight-tonne ship, Yuan Fu Hai. This makes Luoyu Port the first port in Fujian province, and the sixth in China where the world’s largest ore carriers can be berthed and unloaded, Kallanish notes.
Yuan Fu Hai arrived at the port with iron ore from Brazil’s Vale on Wednesday. Luoyu Port in Putian City is one of the largest ports for ore shipped to China's south.
