French domestic rebar prices are stable compared to the beginning of the month. Material imported from other European countries has increased by €40/tonne ($46.4/t) month-on-month but the local market leader in France has not yet pushed up its prices, sources tell Kallanish.

French domestic rebar prices are now at €290-300/t delivered in transactions, or up by €20/t compared to the beginning of July. There is virtually no activity this week in the French market as mills, distributors and scrap merchants are implementing summer stoppages. The market will resume activities at the end of the month, Kallanish notes.

The leading domestic rebar producer is expected to increase its quotations substantially for September contracts when sales activity resumes in the country.

Meanwhile, August average base prices in France for merchant bar are €150-160/t delivered, or an average €550-560/t ex-works in transactions. This is stable on July, sources confirm.
