Rebar prices in France have lost €10-15/tonne ($11.3-16.9/t) month-on-month in line with declining scrap values, sources in the distribution sector tell Kallanish

While May was a slow month due to the many statutory holidays, demand has now picked up from the construction sector and the market is considered lively, Kallanish hears.

Rebar transaction prices are at an average €250-260/tonne delivered. Including extras, this gives a contract price of €510-520/t delivered on average, sources reveal.

Meanwhile prices for domestic merchant bar in France have also fallen due to patchy demand and competitive prices for imported material particularly from Spanish producers. Prices have fallen from the level of €110/t base ex-works to €90/t ex-works, or €510/t ex-works, sources suggest.
