French, Benelux scrap prices decline slightly
French and Benelux scrap prices are declining again in August but much less steeply than expected despite the downturn in finished long products.
The decline is in line with the recent scrap falls in Turkey, while the European market is in a lull due to the August holiday break. This month, mills are buying half of their usual needs or less depending on each steelmaker’s production plan and level of orders.
