Flooding shuts down US Steel Gary works
A broken water pipe at US Steel’s Gary, Indiana, works has temporarily shut down the facility’s blast furnaces, Kallanish reports.
Local media, citing union officials for the Gary plant, say that a cooling water pipe flooded the steelmaking facilities at Gary on Wednesday. As a result, the steelmaking equipment – including the facility’s blast furnaces – were shut down to avoid further damage.
