First-quarter ferrochrome benchmark price drops: Merafe
South African-listed mining company Merafe Resources Ltd (MRL) says the European benchmark ferrochrome price for the first quarter of 2024 was set at $1.44/lb, down 5.9% from Q4 2023 at $1.53/lb.
MRL saw attributable ferrochrome production at its South African joint venture with Glencore fall 21.3% on-year in the first nine months of 2023 to 225,000 tonnes, from 286,000t a year earlier (see Kallanish passim).
