Exxon in talks with Pioneer Natural Resources
ExxonMobil is holding preliminary discussions about the possible acquisition of Pioneer Natural Resources, a shale oil producer based in the US, Kallanish learns.
While talks are currently being described as “informal,” the deal could take place as early as later this year or in 2024. Pioneer is the largest oil producer in the Permian Basin, and in 2022 the company produced 650,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
