US scrap rises as Asia buys Turkish rebar
US-origin scrap prices inched up last week with Turkish mills’ return to imported scrap purchases after they secured further rebar sales to Asia.
A Turkish mill sold 50,000 tonnes of rebar to Hong Kong last week at $672.5/tonne cfr actual weight. This was at least the fifth rebar cargo sold to Asia recently.
