European stainless mills reduce output on high costs
Stainless steel producers in Europe are either mothballing their facilities or mulling stoppages, as they are forced to reduce output by the unstable geopolitical situation, price frenzy, and rising energy and raw materials costs.
Most mills are stopping new order intake. Acerinox says it has decided to temporarily stop melting at its Spanish mill located near Algeciras (see Kallanish 10 March).
