European scrap import/export contracts from France and Germany into Italy and Spain for June are forecast to fall by €10/tonne ($11.3/t) compared to May. A similar month-on-month fall of between €5-10/t is seen happening in all European domestic markets, traders and merchants tell Kallanish.

Ferrous scrap export contracts are agreed towards the middle of each month. “Italian mills are negotiating with German sellers for a €10/t decrease. This is mainly due to the bad performance of long products in the country in terms of prices and sales volumes,” an Italian trader comments. This is also confirmed by a French merchant who offers material in Italy. Most French merchants however prefer to sell lower quality scrap into Spain while Italian mills demand higher qualities from Germany.

New arisings mixed quality E8 from France and Germany into Italy is seen reaching €275-280/t delivered on average. Prices may vary depending on quality, Kallanish hears.
