EU28 crude steel output falls in August
The implied threat of European Union (EU) trade action against third country steel imports which has increased throughout 2016, may have reduced landings but does not appear to have spurred local production. Crude steel output in the EU28 fell year-on-year in August and also continues to lag versus 2015 on a year-to-date basis. UK steel output meanwhile continues to suffer, Kallanish notes.
