Energy sector fragility, labour woes lead to ATI Q3 loss
Weakness in the energy industry and an on-going stand-off with the United Steelworkers labour union bit into the bottom line of US stainless and specialty steelmaker Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI) in the third quarter.
ATI posted a Q315 loss of $145 million on sales of $833m, down from the loss of $16m on sales of $1.02 billion. In Q314, ATI broke even with sales of $1.07 billion, Kallanish understands.
