Energy costs rise for Nucor in third quarter
Nucor’s electricity costs ticked up both on quarter and on year in Q3, Kallanish learns from the company’s earnings review.
Total steel mill energy costs rose about $2/short ton from Q2 and $1/st from Q3 2016.
The company attributes the quarterly increase to reduced production volume and raw electricity costs, while the yearly increase was almost entirely elevated electricity costs.
