Energy charges lead Carpenter to quarterly loss
Although low oil and gas prices continue to erode specialty steelmaker Carpenter Technology Corporation’s bottom line, the company believes its niche energy products remain a strategic cornerstone.
Carpenter reported a net loss of $23.9 million on sales of $456.3m for its fiscal third quarter ended 31 March. In last year’s Q3, Carpenter reported a net loss of $1.4m on sales of $570.6m, Kallanish notes.
