Tangshan billet consumers restock at low prices
Rerollers in Tangshan were restocking actively at low prices on Monday, although macroeconomic sentiment remains subdued. The forward market is thinner with higher prices.
Kallanish assesses Tangshan billet spot and ex-mill prices each went up CNY 20/tonne ($2.8/t) on-week to CNY 3,660/t and CNY 3,690/t respectively on 22 January. The May rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) closed at CNY 3,902/t on Monday, down CNY 6/t on-week.
