Electric cars no threat to steel, SMDI says
Ford is doubling down on electric vehicles, but this should not worry auto steel producers, Kallanish hears from the Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI).
Ford plans to invest $4.5 billion into its electric vehicle line-up through 2020, adding 13 new electric vehicle nameplates to its line-up. As a result, by 2020, 40% of Ford’s fleet will either be electric or have an electric option, the company says.
