El Hadjar re-start to boost Algerian steel output
El Hadjar, the Algerian integrated steelmaker controlled by the local government, is set to produce 680,000 tonnes of finished products this year, following the restart of production at the end of April.
The complex, formerly owned by ArcelorMittal, is estimated to have a current capacity of 1.2 million tonnes/year of crude steel, but an investment campaign to boost capacity to over 2m t/y is currently underway.
