Egyptian Steel starts Ain Sokhna plant trials
Egyptian Steel has started trials at its Ain Sokhna rebar steelworks, with commercial production scheduled to begin in January, the firm tells Kallanish.
The plant has capacities of 530,000 tonnes/year of rebar and 850,000 t/y of square billet, and will use mainly scrap as feedstock. In summer 2016 Egyptian Steel commissioned its Beni Suef plant, which has identical capacities. Both plants are a joint venture with a Qatari investment group.
