Egyptian Steel secures lubricants for prospective steelworks
Egyptian Steel has moved a step closer to commencing crude steelmaking by signing up Shell to supply lubricants for its prospective Beni Suef rebar steelworks.
Trials at the steelworks were last month pushed back till April. The plant will have capacities of 600,000 tonnes/year of rebar and 850,000 t/y of square billet. Foreign currency and energy shortages hampered Egyptian industrial investments throughout 2015.
