Egyptian rebar sales slump to 2019-low
Egyptian domestic market rebar sales slumped -22% on-year in May to 482,700 tonnes, their lowest monthly tonnage so far in 2019, according to the latest Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) data monitored by Kallanish. The average price of these sales fell -6% to EGP 11,829/tonne ($721).
Rebar production in Egypt, meanwhile, fell -13% in May to 508,300t. Crude steel output that month, however, rose 4% to 651,000t, according to worldsteel data.
