Egypt rebar sales slump, prices reach pre-pandemic levels
Egyptian domestic market rebar sales slumped 34% on-year in October to 477,700 tonnes, according to the latest Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) data monitored by Kallanish. This was also down 32% on September, which had the highest monthly tonnage so far in 2020.
The average price of October sales fell 8% on-year to EGP 10,109/tonne ($645), although this was up 2% on September. It was also the second-highest monthly price in 2020 after January.
