Egypt rebar market at standstill
Egypt’s low demand in the domestic market and high costs in export markets have led Egyptian mills to suffer, market participants tell Kallanish.
Non-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member Egypt has lost tourism income since the beginning of 2020 and a recovery in 2021 is not likely. This is limiting new residential construction and infrastructure projects, and preventing a recovery in rebar inquiries.
