Egypt January rebar sales flat, prices hit 3-year low
Egyptian rebar sales were flat on-year in January at 617,600 tonnes, Kallanish learns from the latest Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) data.
However, their average price was down -7% to EGP 4,486/tonne ($505), the lowest price since January 2013. Turkish rebar prices that month dropped to a multi-year low of $320/t fob.
Rebar production declined -12% on-year in January to 528,300t. The divergence between sales and output suggests product was sold from stock. …
