Egypt eases import payments, re-rollers welcome decision
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) revoked the mandatory issuance of letter of credit for the imports of specific goods, including steel valued at more than $5,000. CBE terminated the regulation imposed in February 2022 and returned to the cash against document payment system to perform all imports, regardless of the value of the cargo, Kallanish learns.
