The European Commission has this week confirmed the renewal of existing import anti-dumping duties on the imports of Russian and Ukrainian seamless tubes, Kallanish learns from a statement.

The review investigation was begun last year following a request by the comité de défense de i’industrie Européenne du tube, representing over 25% of the EU's tube producers.

As a result duties of 24.1-35.8% on Russian imports and 12.3-25-7% on Ukrainian products will continue to be implemented. These will apply to seamless pipes and tubes of iron or steel, of circular cross-section, of an external diameter not exceeding 406,4 mm and with a Carbon Equivalent Value (CEV) not exceeding 0.86.

“The Union industry is still in a vulnerable position, and its situation would become even more difficult should the measures be repealed. Low priced Ukrainian dumped imports would continue to increase and Russian dumped imports would likely recur in significant quantities, causing further price depression and lost sales on the Union market,” the statement reads.
