DRI/HBI trade seen rising, new capacity coming online
Direct reduced iron/hot briquetted-iron trade is set to grow swiftly in 2017 following the recent commissioning of HBI units at voestalpine’s Texas site and at Metalloinvest’s Lebedinsky GOK. So says Midrex in a report sent to Kallanish.
Moreover, a new 800,000 tonnes/year Midrex cold-DRI plant was commissioned by Sepid Dasht Steel in Char Mahal and Bakhtiari province, Iran, last year.
