Tangshan billet market comes alive amid slumping prices
Re-rollers and domestic traders actively purchased Tangshan billet on Monday amid the raw materials-driven slump in the futures market.
The ex-mill price of Tangshan billet increased CNY 100/tonne ($13.9/t) on-week to CNY 3,650/t on 18 February during the Chinese New Year Holiday, with futures market closed. Spot prices also increased CNY 70/t on-week to CNY 3,690/t due to optimistic post-holiday expectations, though transactions were thin.
