DOE awards US Steel AHSS research grant
US Steel has been awarded a grant by the US Department of Energy to expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities for advanced high-strength steel (AHSS), Kallanish learns.
The company will partner with the Lawrence Livermore National Lab to use computer models to address key manufacturing challenges in the production of AHSS.
AHSS is a type of steel used by automakers to manufacture lightweight vehicles to meet fuel efficiency requirements.
