Dexin blows in blast furnace
New Indonesian steelmaker Dexin Steel blew in its first blast furnace on Friday, a company source confirms to Kallanish. The move means it will shortly be able to begin supply of its own merchant billet, as well as supplying billet to its wire rod line.
The 1,780-cubic-metre blast furnace will supply a 120-tonne converter with 1.35 million tonnes/year of crude steel capacity. The plant overall has 3.5m t/y of planned steelmaking capacity, and a second blast furnac…
