Decreasing steel production slows Turkish scrap consumption
Turkey, the world’s largest scrap importer, is going through tough days arising from its economic crisis. Colakoglu Metallurgy purchasing manager Ahmet Kunt says the rapid devaluation of the lira, graphite electrode price increases, and an 82% increase in industrial electricity prices are among the factors behind reduced steel output.
