December-quarter dip drags down Vale Oman pellet output
Vale’s Oman-based iron ore pelletising plant saw production decline -8% on-year in the fourth quarter of 2019 to 2.4 million tonnes. This was, however, unchanged from the third quarter.
In full-year 2019 pellet output thus fell -3% on-year to 9.25mt. This compares to a 2.4% on-year growth after the six months through June 2019, meaning performance deteriorated significantly in the second half of the year.
